Green smoothies, juices and drinks became a trend a few years ago when suddenly commuters started trading their morning lattes for cups of green liquid mixtures.  Some people loved them, some couldn’t stand the taste, and others followed suite because one must follow the crowd right?

However, what was never probably disclosed were the benefits our minds and bodies received upon drinking such cups of goodness to start our days.  Below I’ve linked one of my favorite green smoothie recipes that truly tastes like a vacation in a cup and is packed full of all the nutrients your mind and body need to start the day on the right side of the bed.

​This nutrient dense smoothie will assist in alkalizing your body, strengthening your gut and immune system, cleansing the liver, attacking toxic build up, curbing cravings and sending your brain waves into a three-hour state of clarity and happiness.

For those of you look at this smoothie and immediately think too much fruit, too much sugar. I’m so sorry that you’ve been misinformed your entire life and grant you permission to leave your fruit fears behind. Fruit is not bad. What is bad is the amounts of sugar found in wine and cocktails, processed foods, flavored yogurts, 100 calorie packs, granola bars, etc.  Before you begin judging the fruit Mother Nature was so gracious to place on this planet for us, please calculate the amount of sugar found in your bagel and cream cheese or low-calorie salad dressing.

​Green Vita-C Smoothie Ingredients:

​½ cup fresh Pineapple
1 cup frozen Mango
1/2 cup Fresh Orange juice or 1 Orange
Small Handful Cilantro
1 tsp Chia seeds or Flaxseeds
2 scoops Collagen powder
1 scoop (1 tsp) Spirulina
1 scoop (1tsp) Barley grass powder
1 packet or scoop of Greens Powder
 *Recommend Athletic Greens or Amazing Grass (can also sub for big handfuls of spinach or kale too) 
Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Add filtered water or more orange juice to adjust consistency based on preference.  Grab a beach chair and enjoy!
